Teacher Code

The application supports three user roles: student, teacher and administrator [Admin]. This makes it possible to deliver appropriate, targeted resources and tools to each user role. Anyone who registers as a user is originally registered as a Student.

If you are the Admin for a region or district, you can choose to create or change the Teacher Code just for your organization or for your organization and any or all organizations below you. To change both your organization and some or all below your organization, you must click the checkbox to indicate this.

Admin Tools, Teacher Code, Select Organization

In order to change users from the student role to the teacher role, an Admin needs to take one of three actions:

1. Admin contacts Knovation to bulk load usernames

Knovation provides a service to bulk load student and teacher usernames. As Admin, you would need to provide Knovation with a list of usernames and their respective passwords in a spreadsheet format. Please keep in mind that usernames and passwords are case-sensitive and need to be unique. Using numbers often helps and using a particular naming convention is also helpful for you to tie the username to the appropriate person.

To request usernames to be bulk loaded, download the Bulk Load Username Template and email the completed form to cust-support@knovationlearning.com.

2. Admin assigns Teacher Code and user changes role in My Profile (on Set Teacher Code page)

Method 1: The Admin creates a single Teacher Code for ALL subscribing organizations.
  • To create a single Teacher Code for ALL subscribing organizations:
    • Enter a Teacher Code.
    • Click APPLY.
    • You will receive a warning dialog box telling you that you are about to change the Teacher Code. For this change to take effect, you must click SAVE.
  • The Admin communicates the Teacher code to teachers, with instructions for them to update their profiles.
    • Once you have saved any Teacher Code, a link for Instructions to Teachers will appear below the name of each organization. As Admin, you can click on the link, then send the URL of the link to all the appropriate people or just print out the instructions and deliver them that way.
  • All appropriate users then enter the Teacher code in My Profile to change their roles from Student to Teacher.

Remember: In using either Method 1 or Method 2, the Admin must provide teachers with the Teacher Code instructions in order for teachers to change their roles.

3. Admin changes the role using User Management (not on Set Teacher Code page)

Admin assigns Teacher role to one or more usernames in the User Management tool. The user does not need to do anything. The next time that user logs in, the login information will reflect the new Teacher role. This is a practical choice if there are only a few teachers who need to have their roles changed, for instance, if a teacher is hired mid-year.
